Why Choose Solid Timber Flooring - 19mm Strip Flooring?
It’s solid timber!
Because it’s solid timber, each board will be unique in colour and feature. A solid timber floor supports biophilic design outcomes. The raw finish timber flooring allows you to add different finishes such as stains, oils, solvents and water-base finishes to suit your design preferences. Should you choose to remove timber flooring, it can be repurposed or safely recycled.
It’s a structural product.
Customers often select solid strip flooring when they’re matching into an existing floor or they would like to install their floor over joists. Some customers like the springiness of a floor installed over joists rather than directly over a flat substrate like structural sheet flooring or concrete.
Can be sanded and recoated multiple times.
To give your solid timber floor a new look, it can be sanded and recoated multiple times. Your timber floor will have a long service life and can be revitalised by completing a recoat during this.
Easy Maintenance
Cleaning and maintaining sold timber floors is incredibly easy. Use a vacuum or soft bristle brush to remove dirt and debris. For stains and spills, simple use cleaning products that are approved for timber floors. If you need furniture pads to protect your floor, we offer these in our showroom.
Available Species include (all subject to availability at time of order):
American Oak
Similar in colour and appearance to European oak. The sapwood of American white oak is light coloured and the heartwood is light to dark brown.
Blackbutt
A commonly grown hardwood that has attractive colouring from cream to pale brown and an occasional tinge of subtle pink.
Brushbox
Sought after for its unique properties and aesthetic qualities. A fine and even texture varying from pale pinkish grey to rich reddish brown.
Flooded (Rose) Gum
Prized for its unique, soft rose tones varying from pale pink to soft reds and red browns. It has a straight grain and the occasional natural scribble pattern.
Ironbark
A stunning array of timber hues from pale brown to dark chocolate brown as well as dark red. The grain is usually interlocked, with a moderately coarse surface texture.
NSW Spotted Gum
Popular for its durability and colour variation, the timbers colour ranges from browns to reds in both light and dark hues.
QLD Spotted Gum
A darker species of the spotted gum family with deeper reds and rich browns.
Blue Gum
A well-known east coast timber. It has a straight grain that is sometimes interwoven. Its distinctive colour varies from soft pinks to dark pinks and red toned browns.
Tallowwood
An exceptionally durable hardwood with unique colour and grain structure. It is predominately yellowish brown with a tinge of olive green and beautiful growth rings visible.
Tasmanian Blackwood
Heartwood golden brown, often with narrow bands of darker colour indicative of the growth rings. Sometimes reddish streaks are also present.
Tassie Oak
Heartwood pale to light brown in colour with a pinkish tinge. Sapwood is pale yellow, usually distinguishable from the heartwood. Texture moderately coarse but even. Grain sometimes interlocked. Growth rings visible but not prominent. Gum veins are common.
Wormy Chestnut
Trees are affected by wildfires, years of drought and attack by insects. Deep red gum veins formed by fire, ambrosia beetle marks, pin holes and squiggly worm marks are all evident.

(This will be dependent on the mill or supplier)
Like most solid timber floors, solid strip flooring comes unfinished and will be sanded, polished and coated on site after installation. This gives the customer the biggest choice of finishes.
Timber Flooring Grades

Select Grade / Prime
This grade is characterised by a clear, consistent appearance with minimal occurrences of natural features such as knots and gum veins.
This option is usually selected by those who are looking for a relatively uniform look with minimal colour variation.

Standard Grade / Standard and Better (Medium Feature)
This grade is the best of both worlds. It contains more natural features than the Select grade such as gum veins and knots but is still quite uniform in colour and grain.

Feature Grade / Rustic Grade / Natural Grade / Classic (High Feature)
This grade has more character than the Select grade. It features more knots, gum veins, borer holes and a larger range of colour variations compared to the higher grades.
It is a more affordable flooring option and a popular choice for those who appreciate the natural beauty of timber.
